Multi-Algo There would be a few different benefits to adding multi-algorithm mining. By enabling more individuals to mine using standard CPUs and graphic cards, the community could expand more quickly by eliminating the need for expensive mining equipment so virtually anyone could earn Terracoin. Also, the current SHA256 algorithm shared with Bitcoin uses up a tremendous amount of electricity and incorporating other more energy-efficient algorithms would help conserve our planet’s resources while still ensuring the Terracoin community benefits from the advantages of a proof of work protocol. Emergency Difficulty Reduction This is a mining weakness that no other crypto has addressed to our knowledge. Currently, if someone “slams” a coin with hash and then suddenly turns everything off, the difficulty won’t adjust down enough for a new block to be found quickly. As a result, it would take days or weeks to find the next block to lower the difficulty. This usually doesn’t happen, but by not addressing this vulnerability, someone could maliciously wreck the coin for a period of time. Masternode PoS Mining Introducing Masternode PoS mining would increase potential rewards for community members while further protecting the blockchain. The way this would work is by utilizing the 1,000-plus VPS master- nodes to function as miners while simultaneously providing service to the network. And, because VPS systems are always running, the blockchain would benefit from additional around-the-clock security.
