A Charitable Cryptocurrency One of the unique aspects of Terracoin is that it is backed by a foundation that will soon be classified as a nonprofit. The Terracoin Foundation was formed on February 6th, 2016, to ensure stable development, improve network security, and increase community involvement. The motivation behind The Terracoin Foundation’s efforts to back the coin is that they know Terracoin has the potential to help the world. As described above, the self-funded design of Terracoin allocates a significant amount of funds towards a commu- nal budget, which is used for philanthropic purposes, or to improve the coin in some way (which, in turn, allows the com- munity to better aid charitable causes in the future). As noted earlier, masternodes have already been setup with payouts reserved for philanthropic initiatives. These philanthropic initiatives will be able to be voted on by the community once Terracoin trades above $1 USD (in order to ensure signifi- cant impact). The only way that these masternodes were made possible in the first place is by people around the world donating their personal coins towards the cause. These donations have continued to this day as Terracoin’s reputation continues to grow. It’s clear that the Terracoin community has their eyes set on continual progression with the intention and ability to make a difference in the world.
